2013 – YEAR OF LOUISIANA MUSIC
In an unprecedented move, the Louisiana state government, in an effort led by Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne, is officially declaring “2013 – YEAR OF LOUISIANA MUSIC.
In conjunction with this plan, the Louisiana Hayride live again, bring the world-famous show to television and all media. We are in pre-production for a Louisiana Hayride television special. Maggie and Alton Warwick and reknowned entertainment attorney Joel Katz (who also represents many major stars including Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffet, George Strait, the Grammy and CMA organizations and corporate entities worldwide) a Louisiana Hayride Music Festival is in pre-production and a Louisiana Hayride TV series is on-track, following the 2013 re-launch of the Hayride brand.
Why the Hayride?
The Louisiana Hayride will serve as an anchor for music industry development in North Louisiana and will impact multiple industries statewide including tourism. Doug Kershaw, Buddy Flett, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Kix Brooks, Terrance Semien & Chris Thomas King are among a long line of musicians supporting the revival of the Hayride, which is often called the “Cradle of the Stars.” Historically, the Hayride was first to embrace and showcase musicians who became the world’s greatest music legends, including Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Johnny Horton, Kitty Wells, George Jones, Jim Reeves, and Slim Whitman. Music historians describe the Hayride” as the authentic American country music mecca of its day. In like manner, the Louisiana Hayride was the first (and originally, the only) national American music show that embraced Elvis Presley back in October 1954 at age 18, when Sam Phillips released Presley’s first Sun record. Over the course of the following 18 months, Elvis honed his amazing talent on the Hayride stage, and went from a green, inexperienced performer to taking the world by storm as the “King of Rock and Roll.”
And it all happened on the Louisiana Hayride stage.
Due to this, many music historians also refer to the Hayride as the “Holy Grail of American Rock and Roll.” John Lennon’s statement, “had there never been Elvis, there would never have been the Beatles,” confirms the fact. Music historians concur, the Hayride first presented the music that changed the world.
Fans from all over the world continue to have major interest in the Louisiana Hayride and its authentic music history. The re-launch of the Louisiana Hayride is expected to open up a vibrant new landscape for the Shreveport-Bossier-Ark-La-Tex region and presents countless branding opportunities for Louisiana industry. The Louisiana Hayride will embrace all Louisiana talent and musicians, singers and songwriters from all over the world! As Elvis would say, “The future looks bright ahead!”
